OUR MINISTRY CONCEPT

DWELL UK is a one neighbourhood, one community model that places Christian pastoral support at the heart of its communities,  delivering flexible community space for pastoral, social, health and practical activities  tailored to the local community needs.

The community hubs enable living out the Christian faith through the BUILD, SERVE and BE  model.

BUILD, SERVE AND BE COMMUNITY

AT THE HEART OF THE LOCAL NEIGHBOURHOOD

WE WILL BUILD community in the local neighbourhood through building a community activity base, a community café providing a safe inclusive space for people to meet, make friends, and to be supported, nurtured and loved, building relationships and community connection in the hub and beyond.

WE WILL SERVE the community through the café and leading hub activities and other bespoke community resources.

WE WILL BE community, fully present, engaging in activities, socialising, supporting the hub community and worshipping in this newly established heart of the local neighbourhood, knowing your neighbours so you can love them.

The local community will be able to engage and take ownership of their hub through hub membership which will be offered to create a sense of belonging and will be the catalyst to build a volunteer base for hub activities.

FOUR PILLARS OF MINISTRY

Ministry teams will discern local needs to then deliver hub activities that fall under one of four pillars of ministry:

LOVE YOURSELF     LOVE YOUR COMMUNITY      LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD      LOVE GOD

We will offer equal focus in the four ministry areas, with a tailored mix of activities to serve the local neighbourhood

LOVE YOURSELF - build relationship with self: eg self help groups, learning new skills, mental health support, support with employment skills/education, art therapy/fun, healthy eating and fitness activities, and  other self care activities

LOVE YOUR COMMUNITY - build relationship with others: eg community cafe to hang out in, social events (comedy nights, live theatre, quiz nights),  special interest clubs  (eg book club, craft, choirs), U3A club, Men's Shed,  after school and weekend clubs for children and youth, mum and baby/toddler groups,

LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD - build relationship with local neighbourhood/creation: eg "eco"projects, activities that make the best of the resources already in the community (eg libraries for toys/tools, repair cafe, make and mend clubs)  and deliver community appropriate shared resources (eg if area lacks laundrette,  showers (areas of high homelessness),  access to education resources like homework clubs with IT available, shop for fresh food (corporate partner?) car share, bike share or repair etc, community outdoor space (garden park allotment farm depending on site)

LOVE GOD - build relationship with God: Pick and mix of activities depending on tradition: worship (Communion and formal prayer, music, art, 24/7 prayer room, Live-streaming of high quality worship and teaching, corporate prayer and worship),  going deeper groups eg bible study groups, prayer groups, Alpha, inventive ministries based on local stuff coming out of the community eg ELIM church south East Asian woman’s dance ministry, church on the beach, Spirit café

Core objective is for communities to be developing relationships in all four areas.

Ministry team with blended mix of pastor/teacher/evangelist experience will oversee all the hub activities and cafe.   Ministry team will be part of an active national leadership network which will deliver required CPD training and  annual conferences and retreats.  There will be regional  hub leadership clusters created to network leaders together so they can meet regularly to pray, support, guide, challenge and learn from each other.

Back office support function will provide all policy (everything tested against Scripture), process and training manuals needed for ministry team, staff and volunteers.  National network support function to support HR, legal, finance and facilities management.
